I started my career in corporate sales, working as a Sales & Marketing Director for global technology firms like 3Com.

Before the age of 30, I was managing multi-million-pound budgets and earning… rather well.

In 2005, I left the corporate world to build my own business — an online, subscription-based software company. I scaled it to just under £1M in recurring revenue – with minimal funding. That journey taught me firsthand what it takes to build a predictable, scalable sales system.

Now, I take those lessons and apply them to helping others. I founded James White Sales Success in 2018, to train, mentor, and coach business owners and sales teams to achieve sustainable, profitable growth using emotional intelligence, proven strategies, and high-impact sales frameworks.

Basically, I build well-oiled, reliable sales engines for your business.

Because if your sales engine isn’t world-class, your business won’t scale.
And if your business won’t scale, you’ll never get the life-changing exit (or the freedom) you deserve…

I also co-authored the Amazon bestseller Sales Genius 1, and I’m the Sales Mentor for multiple business growth programmes.

Where it all began

I learned one of the most important lessons about sales from my dad: “You’ve got two ears and one mouth, use them in proportion.” My dad was in sales all his life and I joined the industry at the age of 13. So I learnt at a young age, that if I have 2 ears and 1 mouth, I should listen twice as much as I talk. Because the more you listen, the more your prospect feels heard, and the more they’ll talk. And the more they talk? … The more information you have to ask better questions, provide better answers, and more accurate solutions to their problems. And outside of sales, you’ll find me on the golf course (playing off an 8 handicap), supporting Somerset Cricket Club, or taking on extreme endurance challenges like the David Goggins 4x4x48, the NC500 bike challenge in 7 days, and my own 1x10x100 challenge — to inspire ordinary people to achieve extraordinary things — and the money raised goes to charity.

Selling is all about listening, understanding, caring and delivering. And the one major ingredients I’ve found that helps you achieve all that, is having emotional intelligence in sales. That’s why I teach it weekly in my newsletter.

It’s helped me build my career and afford a life I’m incredibly grateful for. And my mission is to help you achieve that too.
